About me
Yoido Full Gospel Church began in 1958 in Daejodong, Seodaemun-gu, Seoul, with five members meeting in a tent. Despite the humble beginnings, the church experienced powerful movements of the Holy Spirit, leading to numerous miracles. By 1961, the congregation had grown to 300 members and moved to Seodaemun. Pastor Yonggi Cho emphasized the personality of the Holy Spirit, stating in 1968 that the Holy Spirit was the lead pastor and he was the assistant pastor. The church continued to grow, introducing a cell system to manage the growing membership. After relocating to Yoido in 1973, the church further expanded, establishing the Osanri Choi Jasil Memorial Fasting Prayer Mountain, which became a hub for prayer and miracles. By 1993, the church had over 780,000 members, becoming the largest church in the world.
After Pastor Cho's retirement in 2008, the church was divided into 20 independent satellite churches in 2010. During the COVID-19 pandemic, the church shifted to online services and provided support to smaller churches struggling to adapt to the digital transition. The church also engaged in extensive relief work, including donating to underprivileged groups and running the "Hope Box" event to deliver essentials to those in need.
Yoido Full Gospel Church has continued its commitment to the Holy Spirit movement and prayer ministry, adapting creatively to the challenges of the pandemic. The church's focus on prayer and sharing love led to the addition of over 4,000 new members in 2021. Despite changing times, the church remains dedicated to the fullness of the Holy Spirit and continues to seek spiritual revival.
